"The past should not be followed after, and the future not desired; what is past is dead and gone, and the future is yet to come."

Teachings

Teachings that help

Providing guidance in the form of public talks and other means of teaching, Bhante’s work involves giving you better coping skills in life as you learn to develop healthier relationships, starting with the one you have with yourself.

With calm equanimity one can be shown how to deal with life’s issues in the backdrop of one’s cultural backgrounds. Having been a witness to civil war and strife, Bhante has seen how our human resilience and gentle perseverance could bring together an awareness to live a life where the individual’s psychic “inner war” is approached with insight, and an equanimous mind, while using the Buddhist principle of compassion.

Story

In a time of fashionable trends and fads, where “mindfulness” has become a common household term, many people forget to see that the benefits of mindfulness meditation could go far beyond the sense of peace and relaxation brought about by the daily sitting to an entirely new way of being in the world. As we gain more understanding in how the mind works out of our own experience in meditation, newfound confidence and TRUST arises, both in ourselves and also in and towards life, itself.

Suddenly, we become able to see a friend and not an enemy in life. We begin to walk with a sense that no matter what happens, it is how we relate to it that makes the whole difference, and where we have a choice.

The toolkit afforded by mindfulness meditation is precisely about this ‘relating’ part.

The language of instruction can be wonderfully healing when it comes from a place of understanding of how the mind works, with the keen attention required to be able to see the intricate ties between mind and body.

As a Dhamma teacher, Bhante helps meditation students to individually understand the role of the Four Noble Truths as they develop wisdom and insight.
